ClearTrip starts train ticket bookings on Android
Online travel agent, ClearTrip has launched a new version of its Android app that allows users to book Indian Railways tickets on IRCTC. Users can also check PNR status of the booked tickets using the app. It can be downloaded from Google Play Store.
In order to book the tickets, users need to complete one-time sync required between a ClearTrip and IRCTC account.
All details including name, date of birth, address among others has to be filled in the platform then sends a one time password (OTP) on email and mobile. After keying in both the OTPs it verifies user account. It is to be noted that IRCTC had introduced one time registration process and had mandated that anyone who intend to book train tickets through third party websites like MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip, Yatra must have an IRCTC account before booking a train ticket online.
Currently, ClearTrip is not charging any service fee for booking trains tickets.
It is to be noted that train search can be done without syncing IRCTC details. The search results gives price of the ticket, time, and duration of the journey. Meanwhile, PNR status can be checked by simply keying the 10 digit PNR number and the app lists the status of the ticket.
In 2008, ClearTrip has tied-up with IRCTC to start offering Indian Railways bookings on its platform.
