Deep kalra , The brain behind one of the pioneer  e-commerce website has shown guts to do something extra-ordinary. Some years ago, before the establishment of www.MakeMyTrip.com website, Indians were used to the conventional travel booking methods. There was a lot of struggle for booking tickets and accommodation while sweating out in long queues. But the revolutionary man has changed the experience. It’s a click away from us. Today, the rise of Internet credibility coupled with falling rates of air travel has helped OTAs catapult to glorious success. And with a turnover of Rs 2,200 crore, MakeMyTrip.com has been a pioneer in the OTA success story. With over 50 percent market share, it’s the single most recognized and trusted player in the OTA industry.

Deep founded MakeMyTrip in 2005 leading it to one of India’s most preferential online Travel Company. It offered the ease of online transactions coupled with great value prices, thus revolutionizing the way Indians research and purchase travel services. Being an IIM alumni and CEO of MakeMyTrip, Deep has led his company to great heights and achievement. Today it has become a common name among Indian folk. The company has listed its shares on NASDAQ in August 2010.

Deep has various credits to his name. He is a member of the NASSCOM Executive Council and chairs its Internet Working Group. He is also serving as a Board Member of  The Indus Entrepreneurs, Delhi and is an active Angel Investor in the internet space. Deep has been also actively participating in social life and is a founding member of “I am Gurgaon” – an NGO focused on improving the quality of life in Gurgaon. Deep has been recognized by Ernst & Young as Entrepreneur of the Year – Business Transformation (2011) and was also felicitated as a ‘Distinguished Alumni’ of IIM-Ahmadabad in December 2011. Prior to his entrepreneurial venture with MakeMyTrip, Deep has had corporate stints with GE Capital, AMF Bowling Inc. and ABN AMRO Bank.

Deep holds an MBA (PGDM) degree from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. His interests include swimming, yoga, quizzing, adventure sports and, of course, travelling.
