Govt to launch iOS and Android app for passport services

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India will launch a smartphone app for all its citizen-centric services like passports, haj and visa/consular services. As per a TOI report, the app will be available on both Android and iOS platforms.

“With smartphone connections booming and set to grow to 150 million, the MEA has bet on integrating all its numerous websites into one single smart app,” an official said.

For passport applicants, the app will come as a relief as it will provide guidelines on how to apply, the documentation required, payments for services etc. It will also be linked with Google Maps to provide the user with directions to the nearest passport office.

Pilgrims going to perform haj or travellers on the Kailash Mansarovar yatra will be able to access all the information on the app.

For foreign travellers, the app will help with visa guidelines, types of visa services. The app, officials said, will be integrated with all Indian missions around the world.
