How to Setup Email on iPhone for your Office Outlook

If you are looking to setup email on iPhone for your office it might seem a bit more complicated than configuring regular Gmail or Yahoo Mail. While many of us do want to avoid work mails when at home, it is a wise choice to keep yourself well informed before you start the next day’s work.

Here’s how to setup your email on iPhone for your Office Outlook. Works the same way for your iPad, and iPod touch. This ‘How To’ is specifically meant for devices that have iOS7 or later installed.

There could be two scenarios. One, your office domain works on an Exchange Server. Two, you have an entirely different domain.

If your office domain works on the Exchange Server, follow the steps as stated below. If not, scroll down for the other method to set up Office Email on your iPhone

Setup Email on iPhone on Exchange account

Step 1: Go to the ‘Settings’ icon on your Home Screen.

Step 2: Scroll down the list, till you reach ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’. Tap on it. This will open up a list of already configured accounts.

Step 3: Tap on ‘Add Account’. This will open up the list of mail clients that are supported on the iPhone.

Step 4: Tap on ‘Exchange’.

Step 5: Type in your Email (with your specific company domain) and Password. The Description will automatically set itself as ‘Exchange’.

Step 6: As and when you enter the information, tap on the ‘Next’ button that gets highlighted.

Step 7: Enter the Email, Server Name, Domain name, Username (Specifics of which should be provided by your organization) and Password (same as the one specified earlier)

Step 8: Sync in your work email with Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Reminders, and Notes, as you prefer.

Step 9: Go to the Mail icon on the Home Screen. Find ‘Exchange’ under Mailboxes and start using your office email on your iPhone.

Setup Email on iPhone that does not work on Exchange Server

Step 1: Go to the ‘Settings’ icon on your Home Screen.

Step 2: Scroll down the list, till you reach ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’. Tap on it. This will open up a list of already configured accounts.

Step 3: Tap on ‘Add Account’. This will open up the list of mail clients that are supported on the iPhone.

Step 4: Scroll down. Tap on ‘Other’.

Step 5: Tap on ‘Add Mail Account’.

Step 6: Fill in the details for Name (The name that you use for your official mails), Email(make sure to fill in the complete email id), and Password. The Description would auto fill itself as the Domain Name. Click ‘Next’.

Step 7: The screen would show IMAP or POP settings and would require you to fill details of the Incoming Mail Server and the Outgoing Mail Server and hit ‘Next’.

Incoming Mail Server details:

Host Name: It should be in a format such as mail.domainname.com

User Name: Type in the complete email id which has the same domain name as stated in the Host Name.

Password: Your Email Password

Outgoing Mail Server details:

Use the exact same details in the exact same format as above (unless specified otherwise).

Step 8: Sync in your work email with Mail and Notes, as you prefer. Tap to ‘Save’.

Step 9: Go to the Mail icon on the Home Screen. Find you specific Office Domain configured under Mailboxes and Accounts. Start using your office email on your iPhone!!
